Rhythm: read a notated rhythm and tap it in time at ten complexity levels, or hear a rhythm and echo it back, with a one-time latency calibration so your device audio delay is not scored as an error. Singing: sing or play a notated note into the microphone, or hold a pitch in Match the Pitch while a live cents meter scores your precision. Ear training: Guess Note by ear, Intervals, Chords by ear, Perfect Pitch with no reference note, Chord Qualities, Solfege scale degrees and Melodic Dictation, where you tap back a melody you just heard. Chords: Two Chords, Major or Minor, Major and Minor Chords played on the instrument, Guess Chord, Play Chord and Inversions. It is sold as a yearly subscription, a weekly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase; where the store offers one, the yearly plan starts with a 3-day free trial. Subscriptions auto-renew through the Apple App Store or Google Play and can be cancelled at any time from your device settings.
Yes. ChordIQ supports external MIDI keyboards on both iOS and Android, allowing you to play chords and notes directly on a physical keyboard instead of the on-screen interface. On iOS, connect via the Lightning or USB-C Camera Connection Kit or use a Bluetooth MIDI controller. On Android, connect via USB OTG. Once connected, ChordIQ detects your MIDI keyboard automatically and routes input to the active game mode. This is especially useful in the Play Major Chords and Play Minor Chords modes, where tapping on a real keyboard feels more natural and helps build muscle memory. MIDI support works with any class-compliant MIDI controller — no additional drivers or setup required. If you already own a MIDI keyboard, ChordIQ gives you a practical reason to use it for structured practice.
ChordIQ supports four instruments: piano and keyboard including external MIDI controllers, guitar, ukulele, and bass. In the Play Chords game modes, you tap notes on an on-screen keyboard or guitar fretboard matched to your chosen instrument. Sight-reading, key signature, and ear training modes work across all instruments since they focus on universal music theory concepts like note identification, interval recognition, and scale knowledge. If you connect a MIDI keyboard, ChordIQ uses it for the piano and keyboard modes. Guitar and ukulele players benefit from the fretboard interface that shows chord shapes in standard tuning.
